This includes general fantasy creatures, as well as some familiar faces in Japanese folklore.

Wondering who the best mythical creature Sanrio characters are?
This list will take a look at just that!
Here, you could find the best mythical creatures out there.
This is based on appearance and uniqueness, as well as any additional backstory to their creation.
8Nina
First up, we have Nina.
This little creature is a dragon who is associated with Wish Me Mell.
Born on March 2, Nina is a green dragon hailing from Northern Europe.
In addition to being adorable, Nina likes milk tea, collecting seashells, and ballet.
The egg in question was originally found by Poco (in Merci Hills) and given to Nina.
Since the egg has unknown origins, Nina wants to find her real mother.
7Puwawa
Puwawa is a unique little sea lion who also happens to like collecting seashells.
They’re not headliners, but we love them.
Puwawa also happens to be best friends with Powawa, which is a giant white cloud.
you could even find some art of Puwawa riding atop Powawa!
6Lloromannic
Lloromannic is actually a duo of two characters named Berry and Cherry.
This pairappears in Hello Kitty Island Adventure as visitors that can stay in cabins.
Don’t let this deceive you though; these two ‘villains’ aren’t actually evil.
Lloromannic is Cinnamoroll spelled backward!
On their official Sanrio page, Berry is described as violent and mean while Cherry is competitive and selfish.
This doesn’t sound ideal, but they are more silly and mischievous than anything else.
They aren’t always adorable, but Kappa Rumba is an exception.
This Sanrio character is bursting with energy; he even likes in a place called Run Run Land!
Kappa Rumba debuted back in 1989, so he’s been around for quite a while.
Just looking at him, it’s amazing that he hasn’t become more popular.
What’s not to love about the watermelon slice that he is seemingly waving around?
Pururun Kyupi is a ghostly little fairy who debuted back in 2002.
Overall, not much is known about this little creature, but his mysteriousness makes him appealing.
What does he do?
We know he lives on Pururun Lake, but that’s pretty much all.
Hopefully, this fairy makes his way into other Sanrio spaces so we can learn more.
There are tons of Sanrio characters out there, but what is the exact amount?
2Gaopowerroo
Gaopowerroo is a dinosaur cat.
We know; dinosaurs are not mythical creatures.
Have you ever heard of a dinosaur cat though?
Hailing from Omurice Island, Gaopowerroo debuted just a short while ago in 2022.
Although Gaopowerroo is a powerful dinosaur, this creature loves to remain positive and happy.
1Tonari no Kappasanchi
Last but not least, we have Tonari no Kappasanchi.
This is actually a family of Kappa, similar to Kappa Rumba.
If the picture above looks strange, it’s because this family is typically depicted in claymation!
Like several other characters on our list, there is limited information on this family.
Overall though, they earn a place on our list for having a unique presentation.
Sanrio characters that are typically depicted as little clay statues are rare, and we appreciate that.
