You know how everybody lovedAstro Bot?

(Our own Stacey Henley certainly did inher review.)

Remember how itwon Game of the Yearafter unanimously glowing reviews?

Astro Bot Ruined Christmas

Look, the people yearn for Astro Bot.

I may never 100 percent Astro Bot now.

The light dapples the rocks.

A pot with a flame in its head looks at a man in a pointed hat sitting under a giant book for shelter, by a fire.

We then see the octopus waving and squeaking like a squeezy toy as a waterfall rushes in the background.

Then, a la Finding Nemo, the octopus is taken from the sea, seemingly by a boat.

What follows is a platforming romp through various environments, displaying a surprising breadth of octopal abilities.

characters making drugs in schedule 1.

Every single environment is beautifully lit and packed with detail and movement that makes them feel alive.

Im hard pressed to think of another side scrolling platformer that looks quite so gorgeously rendered.

Today’s State of Play had a clear animation standout.

The octopus from Darwin’s paradox and Astro bot jumping in the air side by side.

Instead, its more akin to traditional puzzle-platformers where youre running through levels to reach an ultimate goal.

Sure, Astro Bottechnicallyhas a plot, but its not really the point.

I consider that to be a plus.
