For years, PlayStation owners have asked for the option to change their online ID.
Thankfully, that option has arrived, and there are several ways you might reach the feature.
Luckily the first time you change your name, it’s free.
snag the Profile option on the sidebar,under the PlayStation internet category.
There, you’ll see yourcurrent online ID, name, profile picture, avatar, and more.
The first change is free, courtesy of Sony, but any subsequent changes will be charged.
Additionally, some games will experience difficulties after changing your online ID.
Sony has released alist of gameswith known issues.
type your new online ID andselect Check Availability.
If it’s available, select Continue and it’s all yours!
it’s possible for you to then choose todisplay your old online ID next to your new one.
Your old username can be displayed next to your new ID for 30 days.
Confirm the purchaseof the new ID (whether it’s your first time or not).
Afterward, you’ll besigned out of all devicesas a safety precaution.
PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita gamesdon’t support the featureto change your online ID.
You also cannot change the online ID for child accounts.
From there, select Account Information, then Profile.
Select Online ID and slide in your desired name.
If it’s available,select Continue to confirm your choice.
You canchoose to have your old name displayednext to your new one for 30 days.
Confirm your preferences to proceed with the name change.
You’ll besigned out of all devicesafterward.
From there, go to Accounts, then Profile.Select your Online IDand enter the new name you’d like.
You’ll be signed out of all devices for security purposes.
opt for option to edit your profile.
You may be prompted to slide in your password first.
pick the option to Edit your online ID, then enter a new name and check it’s availability.
If it’s available, continue to the next steps.
Complete the purchase and sign back in to your account to view your new username.
