Read on to learn how to effectively defend your settlement against Bandits and Raiders in Manor Lords.
There are three ways to do this.
Build a Militia
A well-trained and well-equipped militia can easily defend your settlement and counter-attacks from raiders.
There arefour militia unit typesto choose from:Footmen, Spear, Polearm, or Archer.
see to it you have a sufficient number of male villagers in your settlement to form a militia.
Moreover, thenumber of weaponsdetermines how many troops you’re able to have in your militia.
Archers are pretty useless in the Early Access version of Manor Lords since they dont cause significant damage.
They are stronger, better equipped, and more effective in combat, especially against tougher enemies like Raiders.
it’s possible for you to build a Retinue afterconstructing a Manorin your village.
Doing so automaticallyrecruits five soldiers to your Retinue.
Hire Mercenaries
A quick way to boost your armys ranks is tohire Mercenaries using theTreasury gold.
To do so, open up theArmytab, choose the+sign, and select theHire Mercenariesbutton.
Here, you might find options for three different Mercenary companies.
To hire a Mercenary group, you need topay an upfront cost as well as a monthly fee.
As such, its best to hire Mercenaries at leastten days in advanceof an incoming raid.
This prevents damage to your settlement and does not endanger civilians.
How To Defend Against Bandits
Unlike Raiders, Bandits do not really attack your settlement.
This poses a huge problem since resources are already scarce in theearly stages of the game.
To stop bandits from stealing your resources, you need todestroy all Bandit Campssurrounding your village.
To do this, youll need a powerful army, like Militia or Mercenaries.
Once your Militia is assembled, its time totrack down the Bandit Campsand clear them out for good.
These camps are marked with atent symbolon your world map.
When all the Bandits have been defeated,press their camp one more time to conquer itfor yourself.
Conquering Bandit Camps is an excellent way toacquire Regional Wealth.
Consistently monitor the map for new Bandit Camps and defeat them as soon as possible to minimize resource loss.
