The exact fee often will vary based on the venue and the prizes allocated for players.
Many Pokemon Leagues will offer at least one Pokemon TCG card pack for participating.

During a League Challenge, you will be automatically paired with another player.
Unlike regionals, in which you will play a best-of-three game, challenges are best-of-one.
You will have 30 minutes, plus three turns, to either win or lose.
If the three turns end with no clear winner, then it will be a tie.
During three turn overtime, the player whose turn it is when time is called is on Turn Zero.
After that, the turn will switch to the other player for Turn One.
This continues for Turn Two and Turn Three.
After the player on Turn Three finishes their turn, it is the end of the game.
For Energies and Trainer cards, you will only need the quantity and exact name.
Oftentimes, registration for a challenge or cup will last at least one hour before the event starts.

Pokemon League Cups
Pokemon League Cups tend to last longer than League Challenges.
At first, League Cups are quite similar League Challenges.
These are the top players with the highest points.
In many League Cups, the top cut will only have four players.
However, in larger events, this number may be extended to 8.
All players that reach this level will be rewarded extra Championship Points.
Other prizes for this event will depend on the venue and the organizers.
However, like with Pokemon League Challenges, you will often win Pokemon Prize Packs for competing.
These are the rules most commonly seen in Pokemon League Cups.
Pokemon TCG Prerelease Tournaments
Not all local tournaments are designed with the World Championship in mind.
This is often more expensive than that of a cup or challenge.
This includes the pre-built deck as well as the cards you pulled.
Pokemon TCG prerelease tournaments have different rules from traditional matches.
For instance, you will play with only a 40-card deck and four Prize Cards.
The rule of four also doesnt apply in this format.
Other than slight modifications to the rules, the gameplay itself is similar to the League Challenges.
